current legislation.
How it began
Fleet Driver Assessment and Training (FDAT) was established in 2000 by Derek Cooper following 25 years within the industry as an LGV
driver. Derek felt that the skills he'd learnt could be put to positive use training the next generation of UK LGV drivers.
Undertaking the training requirements necessary, he retraining as a professional driving instructor 'cutting his teeth' teaching car drivers. He subsequently moved on to LGV driver training and expanded upon this by training drivers in the art of:
- Load security including Rope and Sheet
- Daily walk round checks (First Use Inspections)
- EC Driver Hours Training
- LGV Driver Assessments
- Occupational Road Risk Training for Commercial drivers
With the Transport Legislative requirements having changed over the last few years, Derek kept abreast of the changes to ensure FDAT's
training programs were fully up-to-date thus imparting the correct knowledge base to his trainees.
FDAT gained approval as a JAUPT training centre for LGV driver training in early September 2009, which continued the companies ethos of
being a one-stop shop for all LGV driver training requirements, including the LGV Driver CPC.
